Kegel Exercises for Men, Really?Yep, they are not just for women. If you are suffering from PE, then read up because Kegel exercises could help you last longer in bed and, isn’t that what we all want. If you don’t know what they are and how to do them I will explain it all here.

What is a PC Muscle and How Will it Help Me?First of all, what is a Kegel and what does it have to do with my PC muscle? The pc muscle, or pubococcygeus muscle, is a pelvic floor muscle and the best way to located it is to stop yourself mid flow when urinating. If you are able to do this, then you are using your PC muscle and that is what you are going to work on with this exercise.

How to do Kegel Exercises for MenWhat you want to do is to repeat the contraction that was described above during urination at first, so you get more familiar with what it feels like. Try to hold the contraction for several seconds. Many of you may struggle with this at first, but all it means is that the PC muscle is weak. Don’t worry, it will just take a little practice and remembering to do it and soon enough you will strengthen that muscle.

To begin with just do as many as you can every 2nd or third day, so you rest it in between. Probably about 20-30 to start and work you way up to 50 per day. Each contraction should last up to five seconds if you can, but this does depend upon how strong the muscle is so don’t worry if you need to build up the length of time as well.

Eventually, you should be able to do this exercise for up to ten minutes at a time, four days a week to really build the strength of the pc muscle. Of course, not that long while you are urinating. By now you’ll know what these kegel exercises feel like and can do it anytime anywhere and nobody will even know you are doing it.

Pregnancy Diet Pregnancy Diet for Healthy Pregnancy 

Okay, Moms-to-be if you have never been careful enough to have a balanced diet, now is the time. Having a well balanced diet during pregnancy is the most essential care you can give to your unborn baby. Whatever you eat has an effect on the baby. Many women are under the impression that now they need to eat for two, this fact makes many paranoid about the increase in weight.  To avoid this you can very well follow a pregnancy diet plan drafted with the help of your nutritionist. But it is important to remember that during pregnancy women do put on weight as it is your body’s adjustment to hold the child.

The most essential period when you have to take care of your Pregnancy Diet during the first three months when the principal organs both external and internal and the nervous system of the baby are formed.  So begin a nourishing diet right from start even if you face discomfort like nausea. This is important if you want your baby to have a normal birth weight.

A well balanced nutritious diet consists of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins all in one plate. You essentially need to have a Pregnancy Diet comprised of a variety of foods selected from the five food groups. Fruits, vegetables, cereals, dairy products and milk products will get you all the nutrients you need. Apart from the natural supplements folic acid, iron, calcium are of utmost importance and are often prescribed by the doctors.

Have a variety of food each day and avoid sticking to the same kind of food, however try variations in moderation.  Be sure to listen to your body when you consider the amount of food you need to intake. Proper intake of this nutrient prevents neural tube defects and other birth defects like cleft lip and congenital heart disease in the baby. It is essential to take folic acid before you conceive and in the first three months of pregnancy.

Usually folic acid in found in leafy vegetables like spinach, cabbage or beans, cereals, breads and citrus fruits like orange. But folic acid is easily lost while cooking, hence it is recommended to steam the vegetables and eat rather than cooking. Also taking a 4 milligrams folic acid supplement everyday will help complete the bodies need for the nutrient.

Iron – Iron is the most important mineral required to keep the haemoglobin production going in a pregnant woman. This need arises due to the increase in blood circulation and due to the requirement of the foetus and placenta. Iron is also required for the development of bones and teeth in the baby. A pregnant lady needs to have 10-15% of iron more than a non pregnant lady. Foods like potatoes, raisins, dates, leafy green vegetables, whole-grain breads and iron-fortified cereals are rich sources of iron.

Calcium – Calcium is required for the bones and teeth of the baby to develop and also for the muscle development and nerve contraction. This requirement is high from the eight week of pregnancy and you may be required to consume double the quantity of calcium than usual. It is important that you increase the intake of milk and yogurt in your food. Apart from the dairy products you can also have more of leafy and green vegetables.

Protein – Protein needs during pregnancy increases, also you need Vitamin B6 for the proteins to be completely utilized for the growth of the baby. Include foods like fish, meat, nuts, peas, beans, milk and eggs in your diet.

Vitamin C – Pregnant women require a lot of Vitamin C intake. This need arises due to the development of the placenta and also your body’s need to fight infection and absorb iron for better blood circulation. Vitamin C can be obtained through citrus fruits like orange and strawberry or in vegetables like spinach and cabbage. Also be sure to eat fruits and vegetable containing vitamin C in raw form or when steamed as cooking of these vegetables leads to loss of the vitamin. Green vegetables is vitamin rich and healthy pregnancy diet for women.

Fibre – Pregnancy is often accompanied by problems like constipation, piles etc. Hence you diet needs to be full of fibres to aid the bowl movement. Eat fibrous fruits and salads daily to have a clean digestive system. Any digestion trouble will only add to your discomfort. Food items like brown rice, nuts, beans, pulses etc are also rich sources of fibre.

Water – It is not surprising how water make to the list of the key inclusions required for your balanced diet when pregnant. Water plays a very important part for your healthy pregnancy. Water is the main carrier of all the nutrients to your baby, prevents constipation, excessive swelling and urinary tract or bladder infections. Normally a pregnant woman needs to consume six to eight glasses of water daily. Water intake can also be substituted by juices, but limit them as they carry a lot of calories. Ensure to have enough water not to get dehydrated especially during the third trimester as it may lead to early labour.

As you keep a check on the food you need to include in your Pregnancy Diet, there are a number of food items you need to exclude from your diet.Alcohol – Give up alcohol the minute you decide to conceive. Keep your body healthy even before you conceive. Consumption of alcohol cause physical defects, learning disabilities and many emotional problems in children.

Caffeine & Cold Drinks – Reduce the intake of caffeine and cold drinks. Increased intake of caffeine increases the risk of miscarriage and low birth weight. Women with prior case of miscarriage should be completely careful about their caffeine intake. Also you can replace cold drinks with natural drinks like coconut water or fresh juices.

Smoking – In case you are addicted to smoking, it is advised that you give up the habit before you conceive.

Vegetables – It is recommended that you reduce the intake of brinjal, suran/yam, papaya, onion, chilli, garlic, ginger and pepper from your diet. These foods are very heaty and can cause harm to the embryo. Women with prior history of abortion must take care to avoid these food items.

Gaseous Food – In case you are experiencing discomforts like constipation, gas or bloating so avoid foods that are heavy to digest.

First Trimester:

Week 1 & 2 - Gestational Age: Your menstrual period has just ended, and your body is getting ready for ovulation. For most women, ovulation takes place about 11 - 21 days from the first day of the last period. During intercourse, several hundred million sperm are released in the vagina. Sperm will travel through the cervix and into the fallopian tube. If conception takes place, the sperm penetrates an egg and creates a single set of 46 chromosomes called a zygote, which is the basis for a new human being. The fertilized egg spends a couple days traveling through the fallopian tube toward the uterus, dividing into cells ; it is called a morula. The morula becomes a blastocyst and will eventually end up in the uterus. Anywhere from day 6-12 after conception, the blastocyst will imbed into the uterine lining and begin the embryonic stage.

Week 3 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Week 1): The embryo is going through lots of basic growth at this time, with the beginning development of the brain, spinal cord, heart, and gastrointestinal tract.

Week 4 & 5 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 2 & 3): Arm and leg buds are visible, but not clearly distinguishable. The heart is now beating at a steady rhythm. The placenta has begun to form and is producing some important hormones including hCG. There is movement of rudimentary blood through the main vessels. The early structures that will become the eyes and ears are forming. The embryo is ¼ inch long by the end of these weeks.

Week 6 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Week 4): The formation of the lungs, jaw, nose, and palate begin now. The hand and feet buds have webbed structures that will become the fingers and toes. The brain is continuing to form into its complex parts. A vaginal ultrasound could possibly detect an audible heartbeat at this time. The embryo is about a ½ inch in length.

Week 7 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Week 5): At 7 weeks gestation, every essential organ has begun to form in the embryo’s tiny body even though it still weighs less than an aspirin. The hair and nipple follicles are forming, and the eyelids and tongue have begun formation. The elbows and toes are more visible as the trunk begins to straighten out.

Week 8 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Week 6): The ears are continuing to form externally and internally. Everything that is present in an adult human is now present in the small embryo. The bones are beginning to form, and the muscles can contract. The facial features continue to mature, and the eyelids are now more developed. The embryo is at the end of the embryonic period and begins the fetal period. The embryo is about 1 inch long and is the size of a bean.

Weeks 9 thru 13 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 7 thru 11): The fetus has grown to about 3 inches in length and weighs about an ounce. The genitalia have clearly formed into male or female, but still could not be seen clearly on an ultrasound. The eyelids close and will not reopen until the 28th week of pregnancy. The fetus can make a fist, and the buds for baby teeth appear. The head is nearly half the size of the entire fetus.

 

Second Trimester:

Weeks 14 thru 16 - Gestational Age (Fetal age - Weeks 12 thru 14): The fetus’s skin is transparent and a fine hair called lanugo begins to form on the head. The fetus begins sucking and swallows bits of amniotic fluid. Fingerprints which individualize each human being have now developed on the tiny fingers of the fetus. Meconium is made in the intestinal tract and will build up to be the baby's first bowel movement. Flutters may be felt in the mom’s growing abdomen as the fetus begins to move around more. Sweat glands have developed, and the liver and pancreas produce fluid secretions. The fetus has reached 6 inches in length and weighs about 4 ounces.

Weeks 17 thru 20 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 15 thru 18): The baby has reached a point where movements are being felt more often by the mom. The eyebrows and eyelashes grow in, and tiny nails have begun to grow on the fingers and toes. The skin of the fetus is going through many changes and begins to produce vernix at the twentieth week. Vernix is a white pasty substance that covers the fetus’s skin to protect it from amniotic fluid. A fetal heartbeat could be heard by a stethoscope now. The fetus has reached a length of 8 inches and weighs about 12 ounces.

Weeks 21 thru 23 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 19 thru 21): Lanugo now covers the fetus’s entire body. The fetus is beginning to have the look of a newborn infant as the skin becomes less transparent while fat begins to develop. All the components of the eyes are developed. The liver and pancreas are working hard to develop completely. The fetus has reached about 10-11 inches in length and weighs about 1 - 1 ¼ pounds.

Weeks 24 thru 26 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 22 thru 24)- Beginning the third trimester: If your baby was delivered now, it could survive with the assistance of medical technology. The fetus has developed sleeping and waking cycles and mom will begin to notice when each of these takes place. The fetus has a startle reflex, and the air sacs in the lungs have begun formation. The brain will be developing rapidly over the next few weeks. The nervous system has developed enough to control some functions. The fetus has reached about 14 inches in length and weighs about 2 ¼ poinds.

Third Trimester:

Weeks 27 thru 32 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 25 thru 30): The fetus really fills out over these next few weeks, storing fat on the body, reaching about 15-17 inches long and weighing about 4-4 ½ lbs by the 32nd week. The lungs are not fully mature yet, but some rhythmic breathing movements are occurring. The bones are fully developed but are still soft and pliable. The fetus is storing its own calcium, iron and phosphorus. The eyelids open after being closed since the end of the first trimester.

Weeks 33 thru 36 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 31 thru 34): This is about the time that the fetus will descend into the head down position preparing for birth. The fetus is beginning to gain weight more rapidly. The lanugo hair will disappear from the skin, and it is becoming less red and wrinkled. The fetus is now 16-19 inches and weighs anywhere from 5 ¾ lbs to 6 ¾ lbs.

Weeks 37 thru 40 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age - Weeks 35 thru 38): At 38 weeks the fetus is considered full term and will be ready to make its appearance at any time. Mom may notice a decline in fetal movement as the fetus is now filling the uterus with little room to move. The fingernails have grown long and will need to be cut soon after birth. Small breast buds are present on both sexes. The mother is supplying the fetus with antibodies that will help protect against disease. All organs are developed, with the lungs maturing all the way until the day of delivery. The fetus is about 19 - 21 inches in length and weighs anywhere from 6 ¾ lbs to 10 lbs.

 


 

 

DONT'S IN PREGNANCY DIET..

Skip aerated or caffeine-based beverages like coffee, tea and colas. Too much caffeine may affect the growth of baby. A recent study said that pregnant women who consume even about a cup of coffee everyday are at a higher risk of giving birth to an underweight baby. Cut down your consumption drastically if you can't go without your daily fix.

Avoid eating foods that have been prepared with maida. Likewise try and cut down on eating foods that are high in sugar content. Although not scientifically proven, including large quantities of nutmeg in your meals can be detrimental.

Seafood that is high in mercury should be strictly avoided. Swordfish, shark and king mackerel are among these. Raw fish may contain listeria, a bacteria that can cause food poisoning. While canned seafood is considered safe, skip smoked or frozen seafood like oysters, sushi, sashimi, and smoked salmon.

Unpasteurised milk may contain listeria, which can cross the placenta and lead to infection or blood poisoning in the baby. Ensure that the milk you drink is pasteurised.

Stay away from mould-ripened cheese (cheese that has a blue vein in it) like brie or camembert. Make sure you cook raw eggs. When the eggs are cooked, see that the yolk and white are firm.

Installing Feather Hair Extensions / Hair Feather Installation 

Step by Step Instructions for Feather Hair Extension Installation:

1. Place feather extension bead onto your loop tool.

2. Part out at the location at where you want your hair feathers to sit and grab about ten strands of hair and thread through the loop tool. Remember that the feather stem and your strands of hair have to fit through the bead.

3. Slide the bead off of the loop tool onto your hair and hold bead in place very close to scalp.

4. Place your finger under the bead to make room for your feathers.

5. Place stems of hair feathers into bead.

6. Clamp down to flatten bead around feather stems..

7. Gently tug on your feathers, they should not slide off. If the feathers are sliding, clamp harder to assure a tight bead fit.

8. If needed, trim off excess feather stem above bead so it doesn’t poke scalp.

To Remove Hair Feathers:

Simply open bead with pliers by squeezing sides of bead. Slide bead off of hair.

If you take good care of your feathers you can reuse them multiple times!

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts the Examination for the post of Assistant Medical Officer and Professor (Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy) in the Department of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy included in Tamil Nadu Medical Service.

Eligibility

Age should be 19-35 years for the post of Assistant Medical Officer in Siddha,Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy.

Age should be 19-45 years for the post of Professor in Homoeopathy.

No maximum age limit for SCs, SC (Arunthathiyars on preferential basis),STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs (Other than BCMs), BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes.

Application can be obtained from the Post Offices on payment of Rs.30/- and Examination fees is Rs.125/-

Medical University of Tamil Nadu or any other recognised Degree or Diploma in Siddha, the holders of which are eligible for registration under "A" Class or "A" Special Class with the Central Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai and Must have registered his/her name with the Central Board of Indian Medicine,Chennai.

For the post of Assistant Medical Officer (Ayurveda)

HPIM (Ayurveda) or GCIM (Ayurveda) or L.I.M (Ayurveda) or a degree in B.A.M.S. awarded by any one of the recognised Universities including Dr. M.G.R. Medical University of Tamil Nadu or any other recognised Degree or Diploma in Ayurveda, the holders of which are eligible for registration under "A" Class or "A" Special Class with the Central Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai and Must have registered his/her name with the Central Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai.

For the post of Assistant Medical Officer (Unani)

HPIM (Unani) or GCIM (Unani) or L.I.M (Unani) or a degree in B.U.M.S. awarded by any one of the recognised Universities including Dr. M.G.R. Medical University of Tamil Nadu or any other recognised degree or Diploma in Unani, the holders of which are eligible for registration under "A" class or "A" special class with the Central Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai and Must have registered his/her name with the Central Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai.

For the post of Assistant Medical Officer (Homoeopathy)

Any of the Post Graduate Diploma of the Faculty of Homoeopathy and Candidates should have registered his/her name in the Tamil Nadu Homoeopathy Council. To know the valid college list please refer the site

For the post of Professor (Homoeopathy)

Any of the qualifications in Homoeopathy prescribed for the post of Assistant Medical Officer (Homoeopathy) above with or without M.B.B.S.; and Professional experience for a period of not less than 10 years of which 5 years should be in teaching capacity in a Homoeopathy Medical College or Institution recognised by the Central or State Government.

Written Test

Written Test will be a single paper in any one of the following subjects for Degree Standard

Siddha Medicine

Ayurvedic Medicine

Unani Medicine

Homoeopathy Medicine

Interview and Record - 40 marks

Minimum qualifying marks for Selection

SCs, SC(A)s,STs, MBCs/ DCs, BCs(Other than BCMs), BCMs - 102 marks

Others - 136 marks
